Maintenance Types

Full Maintenance Agreement

National Semi-Trailer Corp’s Responsibility:

  • Perform preventative maintenance as needed and annual FHWA certification at a National Semi-Trailer Corp. branch office or authorized location. 

  • Replace normally worn tires when between 2/32” and 4/32” of tread is remaining, and tires failed due to warranty problems.  Normal wear is 13,000 miles per 32nd per tire.  Minimum wear is 10,000 miles per 32nd per tire. 
  • Replace normally worn brakes when the brake lining measurement is between 14/32” and 15/32”.   Normal wear is 6,250 miles per 1/32” of brake lining per shoe. Minimum wear is 5,000 miles per 32nd. Repair or replacement of brake air chambers and brake valves not damaged by impact or abuse.
  • Repair or replacement of suspension or body parts due to normal wear. 
  • Wash trailers periodically as agreed in lease. 
  • Valid license plate.

National Semi-Trailer Corp. and Customer’s particular responsibility for trailer and tire maintenance, agreed to in National Semi-Trailer Corp.’s Trailer Lease Additional Provisions and Addendum’s.

Customer’s Responsibility:

  • Daily inspections and maintenance of proper hub lubrication levels, maintain proper tire air pressure (100 PSI on Radials), brake adjustments, and performance of minor light repairs, such as replacement of light bulbs.   

  • Repair of flat tires if agreed in lease.  Replacement of tires run flat, blown-out, flat spot dragged, curbed, or in any way damaged by road hazards or driver neglect.  Tire casings damaged due to wear below 2/32” of tread remaining. 
  • Replace broken lights, missing lenses, and reflectors. 
  • Notify National Semi-Trailer Corp. when the brake lining measurement is approaching 16/32” to schedule a brake job.  Brake drums damaged by brake shoe rivets exposed from less than 14/32” brake lining measurement. 
  • Any additional licensing, special permits, and replacement of lost license plates.
  • Repair any damage to trailer to National Semi-Trailer Corp. standards.
     

STANDARD MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT

National Semi-Trailer Corp’s Responsibility:

NET PLUS MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT

  • Initial FHWA certification.

  • Replace normally worn tires between 2/32” and 4/32” of tread remaining, and tires failed due to warranty problems.  Normal wear is 13,000 miles per 32nd per tire.  Minimum wear is 10,000 miles per 32nd per tire.
  • Replace normally worn brakes when the brake lining measurement is between 14/32” and 15/32”.  Normal wear is 6,250 miles per 1/32” of brake lining per shoe. Minimum wear is 5,000 miles per 32nd.  
  • Valid license plate.

NET / NET MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT

National Semi-Trailer Corp’s Responsibility:

Customer’s Responsibility:

  • Perform entire brake job procedure.  Includes replacement of worn linings, shoes and related parts and equipment.  Replacement of worn or damaged brake drums. 
  • Repair or replacement of suspension or body parts due to normal wear.  Includes replacement of bad seals, suspension bushings, air system valves and hoses.  Repair of any normally worn or cracked sub frame, suspension, or body parts. 
  • Replace broken lights, missing lenses, and reflectors. 
  • Any additional licensing, special permits, and replacement of lost license plates. 
  • Repair any damage to trailer to National Semi-Trailer Corp. standards.

Customer’s responsibility to notify National Semi-Trailer Corp. of any required repairs involving structural damage to the trailer, and to make the trailer available for inspection.

Lessee responsible for all maintenance and repairs, and expenses or costs thereof.

Tire tread wear charge of $______ per 32nd of deficiency per tire from outbound inspection.  Brake job charge of $______ or $____ per 32nd of deficiency per trailer from outbound inspection.  100% brakes are equal to 16/32” of usable lining.
